Frequently Asked Questions

Paternity testing

A DNA test is conducted to prove relation, that is, whether a man is the biological father of a child. This may be relevant in view of rights and duties of the father. DNA testing is accepted worldwide as the most accurate method of determining paternity.

It depends on the kind of test. Blueprint DNA seeks to make genetic testing more accessible to the average person. The cost of our DNA test starts from 2200ghs.

The usual cost of DNA test in Ghana is between 4000ghs and 8000ghs

At Blueprint DNA, Our main goal is to provide accessibility to genetic tests, we therefore implement novel business models which ensure our overhead cost is minimal. These savings are passed down to our client leading to our very subsidized rates. Our self-collecion DNA test between 1 parent and child is 2200ghs.

Additionally you do not need to travel to the main office in Accra. We have accessible collection points all over Ghana & overseas

It depends on your status. If you are the legal father, then you can request for testing on your own.
However if you are not the guardian of the child, then you will need consent from the mother or guardian.

Yes. We offer a premium home service all over Ghana. Our sample collectors will come to your home or office and take the sample from the clients for analysis.
This comes with a premium charge from 400ghs

No. Currently due to the accreditation standards required by our partners in the embassies, We run all our tests with the mother laboratory in the UK and USA.
Client can rest assure that no third party can influence testing in any way whatsoever.

All our tests from our mother laboratory in the USA & UK are AABB and ISO 17005 accredited. We are also listed as service providers by the Ghana Judicial service.

It depends on the requirement of the embassy. Our laboratory is accredited to the highest standard by UK Ministry of Justice and AABB (American) with ISO 17025 rating which is an internationally recognized standard of quality.
We provide testing for all the major foreign embassies. UK, USA, Canada & across Europe.

During the sample collection process for a Witnessed Collection Test, a Chain of Custody is established to verify the identity of the person the sample was collected from and ensure that the samples have not been tampered with at any stage. The samples must also be collected by an independent third party. By establishing this Chain of Custody, the DNA sample is documented and accounted for during the entire DNA testing process. The results from the witnessed collection test will be legally admissible and can be used for a range of legal purposes.

However, If you choose to take a self-collection DNA test, while these results are still as accurate as a witnessed collection paternity test, the results from the self-collection test cannot be used for legal purposes or in a court of law.

The preferred sample for analysis is the oral swab (from the inside of the mouth); This is not painful or invasive and yields full complement of DNA for analysis.
We offer non standard option with nail and toothbrush at additional cost.

Any sample from the human body can be used for DNA testing. However with non standard samples the cost of extraction is much higher (Nail and toothbrush preferred)

Non invasive pregnancy paternity testing

As we use a mouth swab to collect the DNA samples, a DNA test can be performed at any age and as soon as a baby is born.

Yes. We offer paternity testing options during pregnancy. This can be done from the 9th week of pregnancy.
We use a sample of the mothers blood and analyses with alleged fathers sample.

The non invasive test option costs 12000ghs and is completely safe for mother and pregnancy. Relatively higher cost is due to lab processes required in extracting the baby DNA from mother’s blood.
This cost is however the most affordable cost for non invasive test.

The mother’s blood sample is collected at a local laboratory or hospital, which can be arranged by us. You are also welcome to use your own family doctor or nurse for sample collection if you wish.

Prenatal test results will be available within 12 business days of receiving your blood sample.

We have discreet testing options available.
